4K Trail General Maintenance
Written by Huang YH
Monday, 23 February 2009

Trail leader : YY Chong
Date : Sunday 22 March 2009
Time : 9am to 1pm
Meeting Point : Main Guard house on the road that leads up from Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah.
Waypoint : N3 08 45.2 E101 38 01.0

First, many thanks to YY Chong for volunteering to adopt 4K. His first act as the proud adopter of this wondrous trail is to organise a general maintenance for 4K. The work will require raking the trails to remove overgrown flora and leaves, some changkul and parang work. It's like going for a hair cut and asking for a trim or to your favourite plastic surgeon and asking for a nip and tuck. So the work is not heavy and is more a keen to a bit of spit and polish.

Bring a rake and a changkul and join us for a morning of fun in the trails. Don't forget to bring your gloves and mossie repellent.

We plan to adjourn to Devi's TTDI for drinks and food after trail work.

We are targeting to officially open the trail on Earth Day celebrations at KDCF @ 19 April. So we are calling on as many volunteers possible to do refine earth works before that. The 2 km trail is pretty much completed.

Most of what we will be doing will involve earthwork so the tool of choice will be a proper changkul. Saws, rakes and shovels may also come in handy as a second tool. Sturdy shoes are recommended - no flip flops please. And of course mozzie repellent and enough water and trail snacks to get you through a four hour work session.

- If you are coming from KL, head northwest through TTDI towards Ikea. Join the LDP and pass 1 Utama. Take the first exit after 1 Utama for Ikea, Ikano, the Curve, etc. onto Persiaran Surian. Zero your odometer as you leave the LDP.
- Follow Persiaran Surian west towards Kota Damansara. At 2.7 km you will pass a large collection of shoplots on your right, at 3.0km there are traffic lights, turn right here onto Jalan Mahogani. The large red "Toyota Showroom" sign at this intersection is a lot easier to see than the street sign.
- Follow Jalan Mahogani until you reach Jalan Beringin at 5.5 km, turn right here.
- Follow Jalan Beringin to 6.2 km and park here. Kota Damansara SMK Seksyen 10 is on your left, the large shelter for Kota Damansara Community Forest is on your right.
